The Wisdom of Trauma Film
Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds. In this film based on Dr. Maté’s life work, Gabor gives us a new vision: a trauma-informed society in which parents, teachers, physicians, policy-makers and legal personnel are not concerned with fixing behaviors, making diagnoses, suppressing symptoms and judging, but seek instead to understand the sources from which troubling behaviors and diseases spring in the wounded human soul. Over 6,000,000 human beings from 230 countries and territories have seen the film so far. Join the movement towards a trauma-informed society. The film is available by donation and has been translated into 32 languages.
Reclaiming Authenticity
- Do you recognize cycles of pain in your life?
- Do you often feel disconnected from your authentic self?
- Do you know a better life is possible, and do you still have questions on how to get there?
… then this series may be for you. It is meant for parents, therapists, teachers, healers, anyone who has experienced adversity, or is simply seeking to understand how trauma shapes our lives. In 2022 Dr. Gabor Maté and the SAND team went on The Wisdom of Trauma film European tour. We held workshops and lectures in various cities. All the events were fully sold out. SAND has compiled and edited the recordings of these live conversations and organized the talks in 9 distinct categories to help you navigate this rich content.
Healing Trauma & Addiction
A powerful videos series and course. Co-created exclusively with Wholehearted.org. For the first time Gabor Maté MD has created a program specifically for families and individuals, focused on healing trauma and addiction. This unique series unfolds as a step-by-step “how to” workshop that represents the culmination of Dr. Maté’s decades of research and clinical experience. Each episode and lesson expands on the knowledge in his worldwide bestselling books on addiction, childhood trauma, and mental health.
This program, filmed before a live audience, includes video lectures interwoven with audience interaction and on-stage demonstrations with participants. Dr. Maté thoughtfully demonstrates how to develop awareness, compassion, and tools for effective healing. Families and those struggling with addiction will learn how to heal longstanding tensions and better understand each other. You will gain new insight and understanding that bring hope, optimism, and practical strategies that support long-term recovery. Participants describe their experience as life-changing, profound, and optimistic.
This program is offered in two versions. Both include the video series. The individual and family program includes a course specifically written for families and individuals focused on healing their trauma and addiction. The professional program includes a course and client exercises, facilitation guides, materials for clients, and a certificate for 12 hours of continuing education.
“This program is very special and different from my other courses and internet videos. I’ve been waiting for years for a video series that effectively conveys this work. As a writer, I am at a loss for words to describe just how much I appreciate this program and all of the hard work the people at wholehearted.org have dedicated to this project.”
