Mental Illness or Adaptation?

Jan. 7. 22 @ 10:00 am - 1:15 pm

The prevailing medical-psychiatric view is that what we call mental illnesses represent abnormal brain biology, largely rooted in genetic inheritance. Such a perspective not only is devoid of scientific evidence, it also ignores how mental-emotional distress is, in fact, both a psychological and physiological response to peoples lived experiences. This interactive, participatory seminar will show how the entire range of mental “disease” originates in childhood trauma or adversity and will explore ways of working with clients so as to address root causes rather than deal with only surface manifestations such as symptoms and behaviors.
