Culture’s Relevance to Mental Health (Online Event)

Feb. 2. 21 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

Unlike Indigenous healing practices, mainstream medical practice sees physical and mental health issues as isolated biological events within individual organ systems. Modern science, however, favors and has fully proven the wisdom of the traditional unitary view.

This presentation will illuminate how afflictions like mental illness, addiction, and chronic disease can be understood only by recognizing the unity of mind and body and spirit within the individual, in the context of culture and community. We need to embrace healing approaches based on traditional insights, modern medical knowledge, and the science that unites them.
